ml aqueous solution of 192 mg (0.75 mmol) magnesium nitrate.6H2O was added dropwise to 4 ml aqueous solution of 500 mg (1.4 mmol) sodium (o-ethyl 3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxybenzylphosphonate) (phosphorus compound C described above) at room temperature under stirring. After the mixture was stirred for 1 hour, the precipitates were collected by filtration, washed with water and dried to give magnesium bis(o-ethyl 3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxybenzylphosphonate), 359 mg (74%).
