To solution of KBrO3 (1.1 eq) in 5 mL of dioxane/water (3/2; 0.14M) was added the quinoline of EXAMPLE 25 (1.0 eq) and CAN (0.1 eq). The mixture was stirred at 75° C. for 16 h, poured in saturated aqueous NH4Cl and extracted with CH2Cl2 (2×). The combined organic extracts were dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated. Flash chromatography (Hex:EtOAc; 1:1) afforded the title compound as a white solid.
