Reaction Steps

A solution of the acid 3-5 (150 mg, 0.34 mmol) in EtOH (30 mL) and acetic acid (4 mL) was degassed with argon. PtO2 (25 mg) was added and the mixture placed under an atmosphere of hydrogen gas (balloon) for 16 hours. The mixture was filtered through celite, the solvent removed and the residue purified by reverse phase HPLC (preppak C-18 column; water/acetonitrile/0.1% TFA gradient). After lyophilization, the title compound 3-6 was obtained as a light yellow powder.
