A solution of the enone 22-2 (1.0 g, 2.2 mmol) in MeOH (50 mL) at 0° C. was treated with NaBH4 (0.092 g, 2.4 mmol). The ice bath was removed and the solution was stirred at room temperature for 1 hr. The reaction was quenched with water (25 mL)and extracted with EtOAc (3×125 mL). The organics were combined, dried (Na2SO4), concentrated in vacuo, and purified on silica gel (90:5:5 CHCl3:EtOAc:MeOH) to afford 0.26 g of 22-3.
