Procedure
The title compound from Example 31 (2.5 g, 20.0 mmol) and phthalic anhydride (3.0 g, 20.0 mmol) were ground in a mortor. This mixture was added to a flask which was flushed with N2 and immersed in an oil bath maintained at 190° C. Heating was continued for 2 h while a gentle flow of N2 was passed through the flask to removed the water by-product. The reaction was cooled to room temperature and the product solid was filtered and washed extensively with 100 mL aliquotes of CH2Cl2, MeOH, EtOAc, and Et2O. After drying, 4.63 g (92%) of the title material was obtained.
