Procedure
To a solution of 29.9g (0.26 mole) thiophosgene in 600 ml ethyl ether at 0° was added a solution of 25.8g (0.20 mole) dibutylamine 20.2g (0.20 mole) triethylamine and 250 ml ethyl ether over a period of 35 minutes during which time solids formed. After stirring an additional 1 hour, the mixture was filtered and the resulting filtrate was removed of volatiles under reduced pressures to yield 35g of crude dibutylthiocarbamoyl chloride.
