Procedure
47.0 g of phenylchloroformate are added to a stirring solution of 57.5 g of 4-(2-fluorobenzoyl)-1-methyl piperidine in 750 ml of toluene. The reaction mixture is refluxed for 5 hours, cooled to ambient temperature. filtered, and the solvent is removed leaving a light colored oil. The oil is triturated with hexane to give crystalline material which is recrystallized twice from an ethanol-water mixture and once from ethanol to give the compound, mp 95°-96° C., 1-phenoxycarbonyl-4-(2-fluorobenzoyl)piperidine.
