Reaction Steps

1.44 g (1.87 mmole) of 2-(benzyloxy)-3-(octadecyloxy)propyl 14-trimethylammoniotetradecyl phosphate was dissolved in 50 ml of 70% acetic acid and 0.5 g of 10% Pd-C was added as a catalyst. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 4 hours in a hydrogen atmosphere. The reaction mixture was filtered and concentrated to dryness under reduced pressure. Acetone was added to the residue and the solidified substance was collected by filtration, washed with acetone and dried to give 1.24 g (yield: 97.6%) of the above-mentioned compound.
