Reaction Steps
2-(Hydroxymethyl)-N,N-dimethyl-4-phenyl-1H-imidazole-1-sulfonamide (0.79 mmol) was dissolved in anhydrous DMF (5 mL) and cooled to 0° C. NaH (60% dispersion in mineral oil, 47 mg, 1.19 mmol) was added and the suspension was stirred for 2 min. 2-Chloroquinoxaline (195 mg, 1.19 mmol) in anhydrous DMF (3 mL) was added dropwise and the resulting suspension was allowed to warm to room temperature. After 2 h, MeOH (10 mL) was added slowly. The crude reaction mixture was poured into H2O (30 mL) and extracted with Et2O (3×30 mL). The combined organic layers were washed with brine, dried (Na2SO4), filtered and concentrated to give crude N,N-dimethyl-4-phenyl-2-((quinoxalin-2-yloxy)methyl)-1H-imidazole-1-sulfonamide, which was used directly in the next reaction.
