Procedure

Acetic anhydride (4.2 g 0.041 mol) was added to a solution of 5-({[(3-hydroxypropyl)amino]carbonyl}amino)-3-(4-nitrophenyl)isothiazole-4-carboxamide (12.0 g, 0.032 mol) in pyridine (120 mL) at ambient temperature over 10 min. The resulting mixture was stirred at ambient temperature for 2 hr. The reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo. The residue taken in EtOAc (500 mL) and washed with water and brine then dried (sodium sulfate), filtered, solvent concentrated in vacuo to give the title compound as a yellow solid (12.2 g, 92%).
