Procedure
An aqueous medium was prepared by dissolving 0.2 part by mass of polyvinyl alcohol in 300 parts by mass of ion-exchanged water. Meanwhile, 78.0 parts by mass of styrene, 22.0 parts by mass of n-butyl acrylate, and 2.5 parts by mass of 3-hydroxy-1,1-dimethylbutylperoxyisobutylate used in Example 1 as a polymerization initiator were mixed, whereby a monomer composition was prepared. The monomer composition was loaded into the aqueous medium, and the mixture was stirred with a TK-homomixer (manufactured by Tokushu Kika Kogyo) for 15 minutes, whereby a suspended dispersion liquid was prepared. Under a nitrogen atmosphere, the temperature of the above suspended dispersion liquid was increased to 85° C., and polymerization was initiated. Further, the liquid was held at the temperature for 24 hours, and a polymerization reaction was completed. After the completion of the reaction, the suspended dispersion liquid was cooled, separated by filtration, washed with water, and dried, whereby a styrene/n-butyl acrylate copolymer was obtained.
