Reaction Steps
To a cooled (0 C) suspension of sodium hydride (60% in oil, 82 mg, 2.05 mmol) in dry DMF (2 ml) was added imidazole (93 mg, 1.37 mmol) as a solution in dry DMF (0.5 ml). Mixture was stirred at RT 45 min, cooled to 0° C. followed by addition of ethyl 5-(bromomethyl)thiazole-2-carboxylate (342 mg, 1.37 mmol) dissolved in dry DMF (2 ml). After being stirred at RT for 20 h, the reaction mixture was evaporated and the residue was taken up in DCM and washed twice with saturated NaCl solution. Thus, 143 mg (44%) of the title compound was obtained. 1H-NMR (400 MHz; d6-DMSO): δ 1.32 (t, 3H), 4.37 (q, 2H), 5.39 (s, 2H), 6.91 (s, 1H), 7.20 (s, 1H), 7.75 (s, 1H), 7.93 (s, 1H).
