Manganese dioxide (5.56 g, 64.0 mmol) was added to a solution of compound 228 (3.37 g, 12.8 mmol) in dichloromethane (250 mL). After 16 h, the reaction contents were filtered through Celite and organics were removed in vacuo to provide compound 229 (3.10 g, 92.7% yield).
