Participants
| Role | Name | HCID | Charge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reactant | Sodium Hydroxide | HCID 14798 | — |
| Reactant | [Hydroxy(ethyl)phosphinyl]acetic acid | HCID 15357685 | — |
| Product | 2-(Ethylhydroxyphosphinyl)acetic acid sodium salt | HCID 46241253 | 98% |
Reaction Steps
An aqueous solution of 304 g (2 mol) of 2-(ethylhydroxyphosphinyl)acetic acid (produced as in Example 10) is reacted with about 160 g of a 50% strength aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide and the water is distilled off in vacuo to obtain 384 g (98% of theory) of 2-(ethylhydroxyphosphinyl)acetic acid sodium salt as a colorless solid material.
