Reaction Steps

(S)-2-tert-Butoxycarbonylamino-3-{(S)-2-[4-(3,4-dichloro-benzyloxy)-phenyl]-2,3-dihydro-benzo[1,4]dioxin-6-yl}-propionic acid methyl ester was treated with HCl according to General Procedure C and followed by aqueous NaHCO3 wash to give (S)-2-amino-3-{(S)-2-[4-(3,4-dichloro-benzyloxy)-phenyl]-2,3-dihydro-benzo[1,4]dioxin-6-yl}-propionic acid methyl ester. This was subjected to alkylation with (1-bromo-propyl)-benzene according to General Procedure P.
