Reaction Steps
Intermediate k (3.0 g, 0.01 mol) was added to thionyl chloride (10 V/W, 30 mL). The mixture was warmed up under stirring to react under reflux for 6 h. The solvent was evaporated off to produce a clear yellow crystal (2.8 g) in a yield of 81%.
