In a 50 ml round-bottomed flask, 1 g of 3-(2,4-bis(benzyloxy)phenyl)pyrrolidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (Example 4) are dissolved in 16 ml of dichloromethane and then 4 ml of trifluoroacetic acid are added. The reaction mixture is stirred for 1 hour. The solvents are evaporated off and the residue is then taken up in isopropyl ether. 1.26 g of 3-(2,4-bis(benzyloxy)phenyl)pyrrolidinium trifluoroacetate are obtained. Yield=76%.
