1 g of 4-(2,4-bis(benzyloxy)phenyl)-4-hydroxypiperidine-1-carboxylic acid ethyl ester is dissolved in a mixture of 50 ml of methanol, and then 0.5 g of palladium-on-charcoal at 10% is added. The reaction mixture is stirred for 2 hours under a hydrogen atmosphere. The reaction mixture is filtered and the residue is then crystallized with dichloromethane. 0.5 g of 4-(2,4-dihydroxyphenyl)piperidine-1-carboxylic acid ethyl ester is obtained. Yield=86%.
