2-Chloro-8-methyl-7-methoxy-4-(4-methoxy-benzyloxy)-quinoline 221b was synthesized from compound 220b as a white powder in 50% yield, following the procedure as described for compound 221d. 1H NMR (CDCl3, 376 MHz) δ (ppm) 2.60 (s, 3H), 3.85 (s, 3H), 3.97 (s, 3H), 5.18 (s, 2H), 6.69 (s, 1H), 6.97 (d, J=8.57 Hz, 1H), 7.19 (d, J=8.57 Hz, 1H), 7.42 (d, J=8.57 Hz, 1H), 8.02 (d, J=8.57 Hz, 1H).
