Alkylation of 4-methylbenzene-1,3-diol using (bromomethyl)cyclohexane following the method used in Example 154 gave 5-(cyclohexylmethoxy)-2-methylphenol as a light yellow oil. Yield (0.15 g, 8.5%): 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 6.96 (d, J=8.4 Hz, 1H), 6.36-6.41 (m, 2H), 3.68 (d, J=6.4 Hz, 2H), 2.16 (s, 3H), 1.64-1.89 (m, 6H), 1.14-1.34 (m, 3H), 0.96-1.08 (m, 2H).
