N-Bromosuccinimide (0.56 mmol) is added to a solution of pyrrolo[2,1-b]thiazole-7-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (0.56 mmol) in DCM (6.0 mL). After 30 min water (5.0 mL) is added, the layers are separated and the aq. layer is extracted with DCM (5.0 mL). The combined organic layers are dried over Na2SO4 and the solvents are removed in vacuo to give the desired product which is used without further purification. LC-MS: tR=1.02 min; [M+H]+=273.9.
