To a solution of 0.410 g (0.593 mmol) of tert-butyl (2S,5R)-2-[4-({(2S)-2-[[(9H-fluoren-9-yloxy)carbonyl](methyl)amino]propanoyl}amino)benzyl]-5-[(R)-hydroxy(pyridin-3-yl)methyl]pyrrolidine-1-carboxylate from step A above in 3 mL of anhydrous THF was added 0.152 g (1.78 mmol) of piperidine. The resulting mixture was stirred at ambient temperature for 24 h and then was diluted with 25 mL of dichloromethane. The mixture was washed with water then dried over magnesium sulfate. The mixture was filtered and evaporated to dryness in vacuo to afford the crude title compound which was used without further purification. LC-MS: m/z (ES) 468 (MH)+.
