Procedure
Ethyl chloroformate (0.95 ml) was added dropwise to a mixture of (1-methyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-2-yl)-hydrazine hydroiodide (CAS 49541-82-4) (2 g) and pyridine (40 ml) while stirring, and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours. The solvent was distilled off and the residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography. The obtained compound was washed with diethyl ether to obtain the title compound (1.14 g).
