Reaction Steps
Methanesulfinyl chloride was obtained as described in the literature. A solution of C-(6-chloro-pyridin-3-yl)-methylamine (2.1) (25 g, 178 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (200 ml) was cooled to 0° C. and methanesulfinyl chloride (7 g, 71 mmol) was added dropwise. The solution was allowed to warm to room temperature and stirred for 16 hours. The precipitate was removed by filtration, the filtrate was diluted with EtOAc and washed with H2O. The organic phase was dried over Na2SO4 and evaporated under reduced pressure.
