Reaction Steps
After suspending 126 mg of 2-(2-fluorophenyl)-1-(4-methylpiperidin-4-yl)ethanone hydrochloride in 3 ml of dichloromethane, 100 mg of 3-tert-butoxypyrazine-2-carboxaldehyde and 146 mg of sodium triacetoxyborohydride were added and the mixture was stirred overnight at room temperature. The reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate, saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate solution was added and extraction was performed with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with saturated brine and dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and then the solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (solvent: n-hexane/ethyl acetate) to obtain the title compound (135 mg, 69% yield).
