1-(1-Ethylpropyl)-6-iodo-4-methyl-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrrolo[3,2-c]quinoline (200 mg, 0.526 mmol), mesitylboric acid (95 mg, 0.579 mmol), barium hydroxide octahydrate (249 mg, 0.782 mmol) and tetrakistriphenylphosphinepalladium (12 mg, 0.01 mmol) were suspended into a mixture of dimethoxyethane (6 mL) and water (1 mL), followed by stirring at 80° C. for two days in nitrogen atmosphere. Water was added to the reaction mixture, followed by extracting with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with water and brine, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and then evaporated. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatogrpahy (ethyl acetate), to give the title compound (28 mg, 0.08 mmol) as a pale yellow oil.
