Analogously to Example 15A, 900 mg (5.23 mmol) of methyl 2-acetylheptanoate (Example 16A) are reacted with 2.5 ml of a 3.5 M potassium hydroxide solution to give 2-acetylheptanoic acid in dichloromethane.
