Procedure

Palladium on carbon (10 mol %, 7 mg) was added to a solution of alkene 21 (39 mg, 0.10 mmol) in MeOH (2.5 mL). The flask was evacuated and refilled with hydrogen (3×), and the reaction mixture was stirred vigorously under a balloon of hydrogen for 3.5 h. The mixture was then filtered through celite, washing with MeOH (5 mL) and the filtrate was concentrated in vacuo to afford 33 mg (85%) of the title compound (23).
