Reaction Steps

A mixture of the product from step (a) (566 mg, 1.38 mol) and N-(2-pyridyl)-3-aminocrotonamide (245 mg, 1.38 mmol) in ethanol (10 ml) was heated at reflux under nitrogen for 8 hours. The solvent was removed and the residue purified by flash chromatography (eluting with 2% diethylamine in ethyl acetate) to afford the title compound (50 mg, 6%) as a white solid, m.p. 130° C.
