1.7 ml of acetic anhydride were added to a mixture of 1.5 g (4.7 millimoles) of 4-[(5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-5,5,8,8-tetramethylnaphth-2-yl)-ethynyl]-benzyl alcohol (Example 20) and 8.7 ml of pyridine. The mixture was stirred for 16 hours at room temperature, after which it was poured onto ice/water and acidified. The precipitated solid was filtered off under suction, washed with water and dried. 1.3 g (77%) of the title compound of melting point 136°-139° C. were obtained in this manner.
