Participants
| Role | Name | HCID | Charge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reactant | Lactic Acid | HCID 612 | — |
| Reactant | Lithium Hydroxide | HCID 3939 | — |
| Solvent | Water | HCID 962 | — |
| Product | Lithium tetralactate | HCID 131712310 | 266.7% |
Reaction Steps
2880 g of 25% hydrolyzed synthetic lactic acid are stirred into 83.8 g of lithium hydroxide . H2O. The resulting clear solution is dried in the laboratory thin-layer evaporator according to the process described in Example 1 at 12-15 torr and 80° C. 896 g of a pourable crystalline lithium tetralactate with a melting point of 250°-255° C. are obtained.
