Reaction Steps

1-(tert-Butoxycarbonyl)-4-[(2-hydroxyphenyl)amino]piperidine (50 mg) was dissolved in N,N-dimethylformamide (1 ml), added with methyl bromoacetate (17 μl) and potassium carbonate (25 mg) and stirred at room temperature for 17 hours. The reaction mixture was added with water (3 ml) and extracted twice with ethyl acetate (3 ml). The organic layer was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and then the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by preparative thin layer silica gel column chromatography (developing solvent: hexane:ethyl acetate=1:1) to obtain 51.8 mg of the title compound. Yield: 83%.
