The methyl (5R)-3-[4-(5,7-dihydro-6H-pyrrolo[3,4-b]pyridin-6-yl)-3-fluorophenyl]-2-oxo-5-oxazolidinecarboxylate (Step 1) is suspended in saturated ammonia in methanol (25 mL), stirred at ambient temperature for 4 h and filtered to give the title compound, mp 257° C. (dec.); MS (ESI+) for C17H15N4O3F m/z 343 (M+H)+.
