Reaction Steps
To a solution of (4-Methanesulfonyl-benzyl)-phosphonoyl chloride from Step 2 (100 mg, 0.35 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (5 mL) was added triethylamine (0.1 mL, 0.7 mmol) and 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propanediol (48 mg, 0.47 mmol). The resulting reaction mixture was stirred 48 h at 21° C., then diluted with water and ethyl acetate. The organic extracts were washed (H2O), (brine), dried (MgSO4), filtered and concentrated. Purification by crystallization from CH2C2/hexane provided the 2-(4-methanesulfonyl-benzyl)-5,5-dimethyl-[1,3,2]dioxaphosphinane 2-oxide compound as a white solid.
