A solution of 8-{4-fluoro-3-[2-(4-methanesulfonyl-phenyl)-vinyl]-phenyl}-6-isopropyl-quinoline from Step 4 (200 mg, 0.45 mmol) and polymer supported phenylsulfonyl hydrazide (1.0 g) in toluene (10 mL) was heated at 100° C. for 18 h. The resulting mixture was cooled at 21° C., filtered and the solvent evaporated. Purification by flash chromatography (eluting with hexane/ethyl acetate, 70:30 to 40:60) provided the 8-{4-fluoro-3-[2-(4-methanesulfonyl-phenyl)-ethyl]-phenyl}-6-isopropyl-quinoline compound.
