Procedure

A mixture consisting of 5.15 g of 2-methoxyethoxy-phenylsulfonyl isocyanate, 3.2 g of 2-amino-4-chloro-6-methoxy-pyrimidine and 70 ml of absolute dioxane is stirred for 3 hours at a temperature of 60°-70° C. The reaction mixture is cooled to a temperature of 20° C., treated with activated carbon, filtrated and evaporated to 1/4 of the original volume. After addition of 50 ml ether to the residue, 5.6 g of N-(2-methoxyethoxy-phenylsulfonyl)-N'-(4-chloro-6-methoxy-pyrimidin-2-yl)urea are obtained in the form of crystals having a melting point of 166°-168° C.
