To a mixture of 5.0 grams (0.0385 mole) 3-amino-5-methylthio-1H-1,2,4-triazole (Aldrich Chemicals) and 75 ml of dry methylene chloride stirring in a 200 ml RB single neck flask, 10.5 grams of 2-(methoxycarbonyl)benzenesulfonylisocyanate was added at ambient temperature; a clear solution gradually formed. After stirring overnight at room temperature, the white solid which precipitated was filtered and washed with methylene chloride, yield 11.7 grams, m.p.147°-153°.
