5-Isopentyl-2-{[(1-methyl-4-nitro-1H-pyrrol-2-yl)carbonyl]amino}-N-[2-(4-morpholinyl)ethyl]-1,3-thiazole-4-carboxamide (400 mg, 0.836 mmol; see step (i) above) was dissolved in methanol (25 mL) to which was added Pd/C-10% (300 mg) at 0° C. (under N2) with stirring. The reaction mixture was hydrogenated for 4 h at room temperature and atmospheric pressure to give the title compound, which was used without further purification.
