Reaction Steps

600 μL of 1 N sodium hydroxide solution (600 μmol) are added portionwise to 112 mg of 21 (366 μmol) in methanol (4 mL). The solution is refluxed for two hours. After evaporating off the solvent, the reaction medium is acidified with 0.5 N HCl and extracted with DCM. 107 mg of the expected acid are obtained in the form of a white solid, i.e. a yield of 99%.
