Bromine (0.012 ml, 0.23 mmol) in chloroform (0.5 ml) is added dropwise to a stirred solution of [5-(3-Fluoro-4-methanesulfonyl-phenyl)-4-methyl-thiazol-2-yl]-(1H-pyrazol-3-yl)-amine (69) (0.10 g, 0.23 mmol) in chloroform (1 ml) and methanol (2 ml). After stirring at room temperature for 1 hour the hydrobromide salt of the titled compound precipitates. This is removed by filtration and washed with ether.
