Trimethylaluminum (150 μL) and azidotrimethylsilane (42 μL) were added to a solution (1 mL) of 4-(6-iodoimidazo[1,2-a]pyridin-2-yl)benzonitrile (104 mg) in toluene, followed by heating at 80° C. for 2 hours. The mixture was left to cool to room temperature, and 6N hydrochloric acid solution was added thereto. The precipitated matter was recovered through filtration and dried, to thereby yield the title compound (17 mg).
