Add manganese dioxide (240 mg) to a solution of 5-tert-butoxycarbonylaminomethyl-2-(1-hydroxy-3-methyl-butyl)-pyridine (60 mg, 0.2 mmol) in anhydrous 1,4-dioxane (1 mL) at room temperature. Heat the reaction mixture at 70° C. for 2 h. Filter the reaction mixture over Celite® and concentrate in vacuo to afford the desired intermediate (60 mg, 99%).
