Procedure

1-(3-Chloro-2-hydroxypropyl)pyrrolidin-2-one (0.380 g, 2.14 mmol) was dissolved in dichloromethane (10 mL) and cooled to 0° C. Dess-Martin periodinane (0.907 g, 2.14 mmol) was added and the mixture agitated at ambient temperature for 2 hours. The mixture was loaded on silica gel chromatographic column and eluted with 1% methanol/dichloromethane to provide the title compound.
