To 5,6-diamino-1-[1-(1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)ethyl]-2-thioxo-2,3-dihydropyrimidin-4(1H)-one (obtained from Example 9(c)) in DMSO (2 mL) was added formamidine acetate (0.058 g, 0.56 mmol) and the reaction was heated to 80° C. for 2 h and 10 min. Purification of the crude product using preparative HPLC gave the title compound (0.025 g, 11%) as a solid.
