Reaction Steps

A solution of A1 (1 eq.) in THF/H2O (2:1, 0.09 M solution) was treated with LiOH (1.1 eq) and the solution was stirred for 3 hr at RT. The reaction was quenched with 6N HCl and the product was extracted with EtOAc. The organic layer was dried (Na2SO4) and the solvent removed under reduced pressure to yield a white solid which was used without any further purification. 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ: 3.86 (4H, s), 3.16 (1H, t, J=7.3 Hz), 1.90-1.68 (2H, m), 1.63-1.46 (4H, m), 1.39 (9H, s), 1.33-1.15 (6H, m), 0.84 (3H, t, J=7.5 Hz). MS (ES) C17H30O6 requires: 330, found: 331 (M+H)+.
