Procedure

To a solution of compound 2.8 (128.0 mg, 0.20 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (25 mL) at −78° C., was added a 1.0M solution of BCl3 in CH2Cl2 (2.0 mL, 2.0 mmol) dropwise via syringe. The mixture was stirred at −78° C. for 1.5 h, then at −35° C. to −40° C. for 2.5 hr. The reaction was quenched with MeOH (8.0 ml) and the solvents were evaporated. The resulting crude product was purified by flash column chromatography over silica gel using 5% MeOH in CH2Cl2 as eluent to give the title compound 2.9 (59.2 mg) as a white foam.
