Procedure
To a 30 ml ethanol suspension of 780 mg (1.79 mmol) of the compound obtained in Example 30, 81 mg (2.15 mmol) of sodium borohydride was added, and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1.5 hours. Then, acetone was added to the reaction mixture, and the mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure. Water was added to the residue, and the mixture was extracted with methylene chloride. The organic layer was washed with water and a saturated aqueous solution of sodium chloride in this order. Then, the washed layer was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, and then the solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (chloroform/methanol=40/1) to obtain 606 mg (77%) of the captioned compound.
