Using procedures outlined in Part B of Example 12, 2-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)-9,9-dibutylfluorene (1.88 g, 4.6 mmol) and 2-(3,5-dibromophenyl)-5-[4-(octyloxy)phenyl]-1,3,4-oxadiazole from Example 7 (1.13 g, 2.2 mmole) are reacted to give the corresponding 2-[3,5-Bis-(9,9-dibutyl-9H-fluoren-2-yl)-phenyl]-5-(4-octyloxy-phenyl)-[1,3,4]oxadiazole.
