Reaction Steps
A solution of 2-(2-aminoethyl)pyridine (10.0 g) and S-methylthiouronium sulphate (11.39 g) in water (30 ml) is heated under reflux for 2 hours. The crude material, isolated in a manner similar to that described in Example 1, is recrystallized from water, yielding 2-(2-pyridyl)ethylguanidine sulphate, m.p. 264°-266°C.
