Procedure
A solution of 26.4 g (0.08 mole) of 2-[[4-[2-(diethylamino)ethoxy]phenyl]methylene]-2,3-dihydro-1H-inden-1-one in 250 ml of methanol containing 3.7 g (0.08 mole) of methyl hydrazine is heated at reflux for 4 hours. After cooling, 9.1 g starting material is recovered.
